The Centre d’Art Contemporain in Châteauvert of the Agglomération Provence Verte is delighted to present ‘PARADE’, a solo exhibition by Pierre Ardouvin.

The titles of Pierre Ardouvin’s exhibitions, meticulously and mischievously chosen by the artist, including ‘Tout est affaire de décor’, ‘Marcel’, ‘Soupe de têtes de fantômes’, ‘Prouve que tu existes’, and ‘Purple Rain’, make it easy to guess that ‘PARADE’, the title of the exhibition at the Châteauvert Contemporary art centre and title of a work produced for the occasion, while referring to the world of the circus and above all to Jacques Tati’s film of the same name, is also a way of suggesting avoidance, retaliation and diversion in the face of the unexpected or an attack.

Pierre Ardouvin has seized on territorial realities, not so far removed from those we call global, and their excesses, using his formal lexicon to compose from elements of the banal and the everyday what Éric Mangion rightly calls ‘a situation’, like ‘furtive snatched moments’. The objects brought together and organised in the exhibition space are potential ghosts of each and every one of us. ‘PARADE’ is a joyful and melancholy invitation, fragile and concrete, where the maximum meets the minimum, art meets the everyday.
